Southern Girls Challenge Features Milk Coffee Stamps!

For this challenge, Southern Girls Challenge has a theme of "Sweet Treats"!  Now, my image from Milk Coffee Stamps is called Charlotte the Nurse.  This site is on Etsy with some very cute images for sale.  Now I'm not sure about the TREAT that Char is getting ready to give you in that glass with the pills in it, but it's good for a chuckle!

I used embossed dotted swiss pink cardstock as the base of my card, with multi-colored embossed hearts on the top.  The oval is framed with a gorgeous cardstock color from The Paper Cut called Basis Teal-it matched the hearts perfectly.  I definitely will be making more Get Well cards for my inventory with this cutie!  The sentiment is from my stash and is mounted with pop dots for dimension.

We are Thankful at Squigglefly with our newest Challenge-Thank You cards

I'm using this challenge to create a type of card I so seldom do, a card that's thankful for someone's kindness to them.  At Squigglefly this week the theme is Thank you cards and what with the season, I'm sure there will be many entries centered around Thanksgiving.

But I thought that there's a kindness that's shown that we rarely have a chance to return the favor or say how much it meant to us.  It's when we've suffered a loss or a tragedy and someone has prayed for us, held our hand, put their arm around us to help share the grief.  Those "angels" do the act without any thought of being noticed, or expecting praise.  They are just THERE!  How wonderful we don't have to go through life without compassion for others.

That being said, I wanted to use an image that I've had colored up for some time, waiting for the perfect time to use it-it's called Power of Prayer by Lynne Stansbery, a featured artist from Squigglefly's super group of artists.  In simple elegance, it's a powerful statement.  This digital comes with a wonderful verse also, but to change the focus of the card, I elected not to use it.  However it would make an impactful sympathy card.

So as this season progresses, take time to ponder ALL your reasons to be Thankful.  We truly are Blessed with all our bounty, both in friends and families.

Seems a Little Sketchy + QKR Stampede + The Paper Cut = FUN

We are celebrating reaching the *50* sketches mark at Seems a Little Sketchy and QKR Stampede is joining us in the fun-they are offering 5 free digis to the winner!
Here is the sketch and you can see there are so many possibilities for layouts~ because of the busy pattern, I decided to make my blocks in solid cardstock colors.  For that, I went to my "Go to" supplier, The Paper Cut.  The following 80 lb. cardstock Basis colors were used: Gold, Lt. Brown, Brown, Dk. Orange, and Red.  They match the plaid I used just perfectly. They also have a subtle texure to them-a feature I love.  The digi that I got to use was this adorable crow and pig- great Fall look I think and I knew the perfect sentiment to use-"CAWS" for the outside and Happy Birthday for the inside!
Come join us for the next 2 weeks for a chance to win some free digis and a whole lot of fun!

I can't believe that I'm Published!

On October 17th, 6 cards from the Squigglefly DT group were published in the Complete Card Making Magazine on pages 56-59.  This was all arranged by the owner of Squigglefly, Holly Young and it was so exciting to be included in this wonderful Group!  Once we completed our cards, we mailed them to the United Kingdom to Becky Higgins for her approval and she placed them in a featured article with a Christmas theme.  This magazine is also distributed in the US so it would be so great if you could take a look at it in print!  It was interesting how detailed you had to be what with supplying a list of materials that you used and the step by step instructions on how to duplicate your card.

Now I know other groups routinely require their members to submit items for publication.  But I never considered that my little pieces of art would stand up to the scrutiny of any editors.  So, I feel very honored that my Group owner would ask me to make something to represent Squigglefly and that the publicity let everyone know where to get some great digital images.  The one that I used was "Baby Reindeer by Fawn Palmer".  Thanks for the opportunity Holly!

Frankie wants his Cupcake for a Squigglefly Halloween Treat!

It's almost time for all the spooks and goblins to come out to play for Halloween!  At Squigglefly, Frankie-the adorable image from Cheryl Alger, is going after a yummy cupcake for his treat!  I popped him up on foam dots for dimension, colored with copics.  The cupcake was cut out with an Impression Obsession die cut using Swiss Dot gold card stock from Bazzill.  The icing is from card stock called Ice Gold from The Paper Cut.  It's an iridescent shimmery gold color.  This pre-scored card blank is from The Paper Cut Company and is called the Cupcake Swinging Z-fold card blank  in the new color, Orange Fizz.  Just in time for Fall or Halloween!  I used a Bronze glitter from Martha Stewart.  I used a Batty paper from The Paper Studio matted in black on the inside.  In the die cut set from IO, there's an outline die of the whole cupcake so I like to use those as a small insert where I can stamp a picture or journal a verse, which is what I did with the pumpkin stamp.  The inside of the card makes a great place to use my larger Happy Birthday stamp with lots of room to write a greeting.
Be sure and check out Squigglefly's Latest Challenge where they want your Halloween cards!  If you use a SF image, you could win another one for your growing library.  They have so many new artists coming on board, there's tons of designs to choose from.  We'd love for you to join us!

It's a spooky month at Seems a Little Sketchy using Crafty Sentiments Designs!

This time I colored up a cute image for our latest challenge at SALS (Seems a Little Sketchy) --She's called Anabelle and she's from Crafty Sentiments Designs!
I probably should have make the image a little smaller but she's so intricate that I didn't want to miss any of the details!  Lots of Design papers with the Halloween flare make this so much fun!  I used Black Stickles on her bows and had fun putting purple stickle polka dots on her black boots~ Check out Crafty Sentiments for some adorable images-they are so much fun!

Emma & The Cake from Fred She Said with help from The Paper Cut

This cutie called Emma (from Fred She Said Designs) is patterned from Tracey's (aka Fred) daughter.  She shows up in the cutest settings and I like using her pre-colored digitals. Officially this is called Emma & the Cake and makes a great birthday card!

I used my Cupcake Swinging Z-Fold card blank from The Paper Cut in the color of Grape Jelly.  I'm really liking these "moving" cards!  I'm very proud to be on their Design Team!  The green that I used as a mat and as the cupcake is called Basis Lt. Lime.  Then the icing is from an exciting textured cardstock called pearlized Esse White and I used the Cupcake die from Impression Obsession--I think they all bring out the candy colors from the design paper from the Spooky & Kooky papers by Bazzill.  Course  I Do love me some buttons!!

2 for One--The Paper Cut gets top billing for Fall

The Paper Cut has some of the most unique pre-scored and cut card blanks for you to play with!  It's so liberating to use these cards and just sit back and create.  One of the neat things with the styles, like this "Funky Fold Accordion Card", is that in the package of card blanks there is this fold and embellish diagram.  It tells you where the Mountain/Valley folds are and the measurement in each section for your designer paper.  Takes all the guess work out of it!
For this card, I used the blank in the color "Fossil" which is like a kraft color.  All the papers I used were from the Reminisce Drifting Leaves series...Love the Fall colors and the quilt look. The stickers that I used were from Simple Stories series called Harvest Lane.

***********************************************************************************
Here's the second one that I made with the Funky Fold, only this base is in the color of Orange Fizz!  I used the color Jelly Bean Green for several mats and used the Thankful series/Homey from Bella Blvd.  I just love my tiny buttons!
The cardstock accents are from The Paper Studio-they match so well!  And the green and golden leaves are from The Paper Patch.  These special cuts sure let you use up your scraps--I sure have enough of those around!  I love how the card looks so unassuming BUT then the lucky person that's receiving the card pulls it open to a great surprise!
I'm so glad you stopped by to see what I was up to-I love hearing your comments and hope I can give you some ideas along the way.
