The TALL and SHORT of it--new Challenge at Squigglefly!

When I first saw this beautiful digital called Rose Wreath by Pammie Lehto , a new artist at Squigglefly, it just seemed like it should be on a door, like a Welcome to those that enter.  And, I wanted to didn't want to do the traditional colors like red or pink, but sunny yellow!

Well this week at Squigglefly, our challenge is "The Long and Short of it" and the DOOR works very well with the TALL of this challenge!  I made this card tall to fit into a regular letter size envelope, out of burgundy cardstock.  Then used a gray brick embossed card front to simulate a brick building. I hung the wreath with foam dots and then used a matted oval (sort-of like a door mat).  The SHORT part of the challenge are 2 short pieces of chevron ribbon in gray and yellow done with a fishtail cut that stick out of the mat.

So hurry on over to Squigglefly and join in our fun-it's a great way to win a digital image of your choice our of the shop!  There are so many talented artists there you'd be amazed!  See you there!

Sweet n Sassy Stamps Sponsors our Challenge #42- It's a Circus under the Big Top!

At Seems a Little Sketchy, we've enjoyed playing with some whimsical images this week on our bi-weekly challenge~ a Circus Tent, A Clown with Balloons and a Seal balancing a ball on his nose, all from Sweet n Sassy Stamps!.  All Adorable!  I always seem to have a hard time fitting so much on my cards (I KNOW it's hard to believe!) so I settled for the group you see on the right.  I've had this yellow stripe and chevron green paper for a while and couldn't wait to use it on this!  Lots of coloring and layers but thought it turned out really cute.
You have 2 weeks to use any image with our sketch and the prize is 3 digital images of your choice from Sweet N Sassy!  Wow, what a great chance to get some new digitals for your library!!  Just follow our sketch the way it is or rotate it to suit yourself and HAVE FUN!  See you there!

Sassy Cheryl Alger's Latest Challenge-HERE COMES SUMMER!

I would imagine that there will be many kids during the summer, when they are out of school, with all the time in the world on their hands, that will just lay back in a field of grass and just stare up at the clouds in the sky and be glad for some lazy days ahead.  So when I saw that the challenge at Sassy Cheryls Challenge blog  was Here Comes Summer, I thought of this great image that I had of Cheryl's called A Penny for Your Thoughts.

I used some great cloud paper stitched to a blue mat, colored the digital image with copics, fancy cut the image and then used some card stock stickers and border from a summer set.  Think this is a great "Thinking of You" card heading off to a dear friend.

Be sure to check out all of her weekly challenges-she has great themes and you could win the prize of 2 digital images for your library!  See you there!

May your colors be True, with Red White and Blue --on Squigglefly Challenge #24

Since the 4th of July is approaching, many of us here in the USA are thinking of the summer Holiday, but, you don't have to create a 4th of July card, you are welcome to create any card using the red, white and blue color scheme to qualify. We'd love to see you use a Squigglefly image, if you want to win the prize, it's required, but to play along, it's not necessary.
I'm using one of the images called "Fancy Cup with Rose" by Pammie Lehto, a new artist we have at Squigglefly.  I love the shading that's imbedded in the image-it made the rose come alive when I used my deep red copics.  I tried to make the cup appear as if it was fine china with a tint of pink in the crevices but the picture seems to wash out the light pinks.  I used foam dots to lift the image for dimension.  I added a swirl of bling and stars in the opposite corners for some sparkle like fireworks!  The inside is finished with a blue jean looking paper with stars on it.  Thanks for looking! Carolyn

I would also like to enter this in this challenge:

It's safe to reveal my Father's Day Cards-Fred, She Says to the rescue!

There were so many Family and Friends that Asked me to help them out and make some Father's Day cards for them to give to their loved ones.  I didn't want to blow the surprise so I waited to post the pictures.  This Tool Carry-all is actually an A7 card size so it works well with the envelopes! I printed out the  tool images from my computer and fancy cut them into the front of the "box".  This is the only one where I created my own images-most of the rest are Fred, She Says pre-colored images!

On this Bluejean card, I actually took this denim like paper, scored it on my scor-pal, folded the seam over and stitched it on my sewing machine so it would really look like jeans! Added some flannel-like plaid, the great pre-colored imaged called The Old Truck Digi (comes with 3 different colored trucks and b&w), some baker's twine and a charm from my huge stash that says "Dad/Daddy".

Kind of an eclectic group of cards for my friends but it was so much fun to make them!
I
And then these 2 adorable cards from
Fred, She Says using "Emma in her Cool Cap" and "Nolan with a Sign" which were perfect for two little kids to give to their fathers!
I was glad they asked me, I had such fun making all the different looks for different personalities!  And it was so nice that I knew I could turn to Fred to come up with some Classic Looks!  Hope all of you had time with your Dads/Daddys/Pops and to appreciate all the things they did for you along life's path!

Sassy Cheryl Latest Challenge "For a Guy/Boy" and DT Call!

How  Frustrating to be all ready to compose the final elements of your card....and then, You Run Out of ALLLL your adhesive!!  YIKES!  I don't think that's ever happened to me before.  I mean I was digging everywhere to even find a partial roll--my big adhesive gun was even giving me fits.  The cartridges were not wanting to work properly.  Today I got armed to the hilt with my stash and am ready to rock and roll with my card for the Challenge #170 on Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog and DT team entry.
I've been wanting to use this digital image of Cheryl Algers' for a long time-It's called "Be Prepared" and I got it from Squiggle Fly because Sassy Cheryl is a featured Artist on their blogsite.  I fancy cut him because I wanted to see the neat embossed tree dp through his body.  The tree to his left is from a textured woodgrain paper that I added some green Flower Soft to create some leafy branches.  The river rock he's standing on is again some theme paper from my stash.  I flat mounted his feet to the rock paper but I used foam dots on the upper part to give him a little dimension.  I think I had the Most fun on this card with the little pup tent that I created out of 2 corners on some speckled brown paper.  Think I'd originally bought it to use for "pigskin" around football season but thought it's perfect for this!! Made a pole out of kraft paper, slit the front triangle and then curled back the front flaps.  It looks just like the tent we used to put up in the summer in our back yard when we were growing up~brings back fond memories!  The inside of the Birthday card has Camping theme paper background and a kraft top note die cut for personalizing it.

I hope I was able to give others some neat ideas and pass on some tips.  Wish me luck with the DT call and cross everything that you can!
Thanks for looking, Carolyn

Inky Impressions sponsors the Southern Girls Challenge~Punches or Die cuts!

One would think that a simple option on a challenge like "use a die cut or PUNCH in your creation" would make it very simple for me..NOT, a case of too many choices and options!!!  At Southern Girls Challenge, come join us for our 2 week challenge and get a chance to win some wonderful prizes!
Our sponsor this week is Inky Impressions and I just love this digital stamp called Birthday Lili.  The image is very detailed and with very clean lines so inking it up was a lot of fun!  They have a lot of fun options in their store so check it out!
I finally opted to use some cardstock punches I bought WAY back when I first got started in Scrapbooking on my card and "attached" them to her hand with embroidery floss.  For a little girly feel to the design, I used a Martha Stewart lacy Scalloped edger along the butterflies.  The stamp and papers are from my scraping stash.
We hope you decide to join us in the challenge~you can use any image and layout, just follow the theme!  See you there~Carolyn

WOOF! Check out my "Wrapped" Squigglefly entry for this week!

Great challenge on Squigglefly this week-- --Wrap It Up - use your imagination. Wrap ribbon or twine around a layer, wrap a die cut around a corner, use wrapping paper instead of designer scrapbook paper, use an image with a wrapped gift...

I chose to use this with my dog bones twill ribbon, which I wrapped around the front panel of my card.  That way the twill showed on the inside of my card also!  The image I used was called Puppy Love by Fawn Palmer and as a grandmother of a pre-teen, I adored working with it!  The long blonde hair was fashioned after her and she loves the color purple.  I used a patterned paper to simulate wallpaper and then the solid for carpet.  I used 2 new methods on this card that I've never tried before:  choppy straight lines to simulate dog fur and alternating hash lines on her blue jeans with colorless blender to show distressed areas.  The tut said to use the colorless copic then, when dry, to go lightly over that with E41 to create the beige tint that they sometimes have.  I like the effect!  I added some charms that I had to the knotted ribbon~a heart that says Love and an enameled Top Dog House.  I've got SO many charms from when I used to sell on Ebay that I've GOT to start using them more-they make such cute accents!
So go grab any of your Squigglefly images and get to wrapping!  A chance to win a free image from the artists' gallery is well worth the effort!  See you there!

I so want to be Swimming...Seems a Little Sketchy Challenge!

It has been so humid this weekend here in Illinois that it doesn't take too much imagination to wish I was at the Beach in the surf!  This week at Seems a Little Sketchy, we had the chance to use a digital image from Eureka Stamps-a great place to get a variety of neat images!  I love how cute this Boy on the Beach image is and I had such fun coloring him up with my copics!
I had some super wave paper that I fancy cut around each wave, added some swiss dotted cardstock, and some accent paper and chipboard accent dot from my stash.  I'm still trying to work on using dots to create sand that I've seem on other cards but, you can definitely see that it's a work in progress.

The neat thing about Seems a Little Sketchy is that we have such interesting sketches to follow--it makes it so much easier to place your images and papers!  This is a two week challenge so there's plenty of time to enter our challenge.  Use any image and follow the sketch-easy peasy!

I think the World and the Moon and Stars are all in alignment today on my Blog BECAUSE...I LOVE the color Pink (as my Granddaughter will tell you), I LOVE Cheryl Alger Digi's AND, I LOVE the fact that this amazing artist is looking for some Sassy Gals to join her Design Team!  I think I've hit the Trifecta!   At Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog, you can win 2 images of your choice if you just get out your CA digis, and every shade of pink that you can find for coloring and start creating!  The more the merrier~
The image I'm using is one of Cheryl's older digis but I just love her floppy hat!  There are some great changes going on over on her Blog where she is creating some new characters, Max & Maddie, as well as offering her designs in Rubber!  I accented this 6 x 6 card with my fav embellishments, buttons, flowers, and frilly stuff!  I hope you like it and come back soon and sit a spell!
