Scrapbook Place Leap Day Blog Hop~Welcome!

Leap Day happens only once every FOUR years and, to celebrate this rare day, Your Scrapbook Place is having a BLOG HOP today!!  Our Theme is CHOCOLATE-White, Dark, Milk, Covering fruit, taking a bath in it--well, maybe not the bath part, but what a great theme to inspire your crafty sweet tooth!  I made a Triangle Tri-Fold card with my favorite swirl paper that reminds me of rich Chocolate and the Raspberry ribbon makes me think of the luscious fillings. It has cut out, crystal embossed pieces inserted under the front double matted hot cocoa image. The 2nd picture shows it untied and opening and the 3rd reveals the middle layer with another sentiment.  The final picture shows the card opened completely.
I hope that you like this new card style and will leave a little love with your comments.  If you will notice on the right of my blog, there's a picture showing my BLOG CANDY which will be given out randomly using Mr. Random for those that choose to leave comments--There are 10 HMBM ATC cards with various themes that I will mail to the random winners after the Hop is over.  Please contact me within a week of me posting your name as a winner.
If you're hopping here from Karissa's blog, you're on the right path.  If not, start HERE so you don't miss out on any fun!  In order to get a chance for some SBP Blog candy , follow the Scrapbook Place Challenge Blog and leave a comment at every stop on the hop.
Next stop is Holley's Blog...Don't forget to leave some love before you hop away!

Sweet Stop Sketch #SSS147 Challenge

I think I've had the Most fun working on this card!! First I started with the Sketch Challenge from Sweet Stop, Worked in the requirements for the Desert Island #25 Challenge featuring a "boy" and added Lots of Embellishments. I used the papers from Got Moxie Sweet ride, The Digi Image is from a wonderful new site for me, Darcys Diaries and I colored it with Copics..I've already been a good customer!  I tied the eclectic group of colored buttons with baker's twine in various colors and unraveled the ends.  Adding Monograms (I love them) and some stars for Bling, I think it sent a messsage:  U R A good friend.  The inside has a liner of the doublesided paper with an insert to write your own sentiments on.

Entering this card in the following challenges:

*B*L*I*N*G* Challenge

Well over at Dustin Pike http://dustinpike.blogspot.com/, they are looking for some *BLING* so that's what I'm giving them!  In honor of St. Pat's day coming up in March and using their Crazy Dragon Leprechaun, I've cut a Rainbow out of several pieces of glitter cardstock, grounded him with grass paper and them embellished the digi image, colored with Copic markers, with metallic paint on the gold coins.  He's all decked out with glittered Shamrock accents and a satin bow that says The Luck of the Irish.  Inside, I framed with Green glitter cardstock the sentiment also from Dustin Pike that says "You're My Pot of Gold".  Something new with DP challenges now is that with your entry you will get an advance free digi that hasn't yet been released just for playing along.  I love his images for kids of all ages! You'll have to join in the Fun!
I'm also entering this creation in the Desert Island Blog challenge, using the required item of (2) patterned papers (sky has white cloud puffs, grass has got sprigs of grass on it), the color Green, and Bling-which I have loads of! They are a great site for challenges-check them out! http://desertislandcraftschallenge.blogspot.com/

Always Time for Challenges...

Well, you would think that but sometimes life just gets in the way!  Please take a look at my latest 6x6 card that I will be entering in 4 challenges:

Willow Sketch Challenge
This sketch worked well for all of them~Squiggle Fly was thinking Spring this week with the use of YELLOW so I used a FUN FUN FUN Watering Can image from Cheryl Alger
  • Gals you need to check out Willow Sketchie-great images but you don't have to use specific ones AND this sketch sure made my card making easy!!!
  • On the JUGS blog, the only requirement was to use the colors teal, pink, yellow, and green--That just screams Spring right?
  • And this great new site for me Ladybug Crafts has the requirement that it be spring colors, images etc.  With a name like that it's got to be alll goood
Some added features I tried on this was grunging up the mat with a small fingernail file and adding button loops under the accent buttons.

Trying to be smarter!

I don't know how you ladies keep the challenges straight in your mind but, I'm going to try from now on to make my entries for multiple blog blog sites.  I know, novel idea right?  This cute digi card is from Squiggle Fly where they are currently having a Heart Challenge http://squigglefly.blogspot.com/.  This stamp is call My Main Squeeze and I adore her! I even glazed her shoes so that they looked like patent leather!  Love the Spring colors-I'm so sick of Winter~ The inside of the card has a spring green liner with little daisies on it and a sentiment that says "I think I got my present!"  I'm also entering it in Celebrate the Occasion http://celebratetheoccasion.blogspot.com/ and Sundays with Crissy http://sundayswithcrissy.blogspot.com/ Wish me luck and check out these great blogs..I found them by following other peoples' entries in challenges~neat.  I was also able to add Bunny Zoe's Crafts Challenge also as they are a once a month challenge spot-http://bunnyzoescrafts.blogspot.com/2012/02/challenge-21-celebrations.html

Dustin Pike's new challenge

I love the newest challenge at Dustin Pike-to use some of the yummiest colors.  I chose Brown, Pink and white as the accent.  This little monkey from Dustin Pike floating away with his heart balloon just melts MY heart!  He and the balloon are shaded with copics and elevated with pop dots. The paper from Doodlebug Designs with all those neat swirls works great for when you need rich colors-would even look great with masculine cards!  I used various sized flossed buttons, a flourish from a favorite seller on Etsy and trimmed it with brown and pink heart ribbon from Hobby Lobby. The stamped image on the corner was filled in with pink copics!  Love what you do and Do what you love!  Thanks for looking~ http://dustinpike.blogspot.com/

Squiggle Fly Birthday Card Challenge-Cheryl Alger

I just love the creations by Cheryl Alger at Squiggle Fly..When I saw this new release, it just called to me to make a card!  Here you will see a Tri-fold card from bright pink cardstock- I "hung" the triple matted image over the front edge of the card to make an opening flap and used the same pink paisley patterned paper you see in the background under the image. You can see the second layer of the card where I used green bubbled handmade paper and stamped a birthday cake image with a cluster of green flossed buttons.  Then the inside of the card is lined again with the paisley with a die cut writing area.  I think I will have to get some more of her kids online-they are so darn cute! This card was entered into their Birthday card challenge http://squigglefly.blogspot.com/ and I'm also entering it in the Sunday's with Crissy challenge @ http://sundayswithcrissy.blogspot.com/, CTO's challenge @ http://celebratetheoccasion.blogspot.com/  and Desert Islands Craft Challenge using the categories of Birthday theme/Presents/and Bright Colors @ http://desertislandcraftschallenge.blogspot.com/ .All of these sites have great challenges going on! Also this is going to Bunny Zoe's Crafts Challenge at

With Love....Sebastian

In Florida, there's a great little boy named Sebastian who has a serious health condition.  He will be facing surgery soon and his courageous teacher has a dream for him-a room full of cards to show him that not everyone in the world points fingers at him or talks behind his back.  Scrapbook Place members are each trying to make his life a little happier by helping her out.  He mentioned that one of his favorite Superheros was Spiderman so this is my contribution to such a brave boy with a beautiful, glowing smile.  I used some specialty paper with black shiny globs all over it for the background, Word bubbles of course lol, red/white cording, and I made "spider webs" using clear gel adhesive, designed 2 spider sprays on a dry erase board so they wouldn't stick.  I peeled them off when dry and mounted them to the front and inside.  I just hope it will bring a big smile to his face and he will know I care.  If you'd like to read more about him please check his story out and maybe participate yourself? http://gingershouse.blogspot.com/2012/02/cards-for-sebastian.html#comment-form

Chocolate..Valentine's Day-they just go hand in hand!

I was recently asked by Scrapbook Place to help come up with a theme card for our blog featuring one of the 4 food groups, CHOCOLATE. I had just come across some Delicious, rich, Chocolate colored papers by Basic Grey called Bittersweet and wanted to try a new design for me-the Pop Up Heart. After much cutting, bending, creasing I've got the most amazing card, I think!  The front is in browns and pinks and with an intricate pattern.  I randomly glazed the swirls-makes it look like melted chocolate! Rich brown heavy lace is offset with rose dew drops; pink flowers and a flourish peak your interest with what's INSIDE: a coordinating pink and brown paper and this gorgeous, pink Martha Stewart Gilttered heart that fully extends. To help this stand up, I used a light poster board but really think that I could've used a heavy Bazzil cardstock and it would've been fine.  A friend of ours asked me to do a card for his wife for Valentine's Day, which is also her birthday so I think this will be well received.  Thanks for looking!

He Loves me..Squiggle Fly RED Challenge

This being the Month of LOVVVVVE, I chose to do a switch on the old saying "He Loves Me, He Loves me not" for my Red Challenge from Squiggle Fly....I just want to think of LOVE!
This A9 Card features a simply Beautiful deep red Rose paper from Paper Studio that shows off the Heart shape, outlined in black loopy trim. I love using this Squiggle Fly Butterfly holding Daisies instead of a heart. He's got Red Stickles on his spots and there are curved petals floating down from his bouquet-done w/ handmade paper and rolled for dimension.  I made curved sayings and all images are elevated.  Behind the curved front, the inner liner says it all-I Love You!  Check out their blog challenge for more ideas, http://squigglefly.blogspot.com/

Dustin Pike Challenge Feb.05-What FUN!

I've always been attracted to these curious little dragons and monkeys without really knowing that they were from Dustin Pike!  I find them fascinating and great for kids cards-they make you go awwww!  A great moderator on ScrapbookPlace suggested blog sites where members could participate in challenges offered up by many great artists.   Needless to say I had a great big smile on my face when I left DP's site!  http://dustinpike.blogspot.com/search/label/challenge .

I colored in the Digi Image of the Monkey with Copic markers, matted him in red and used popdots to raise him up.  For the 2 horizontal bars, I cut 2 "tree" limbs out of wood like paper and then wrapped them with silk vine ribbon, elevated them with pop dots.  For the area shown in pink, I had this great jungle paper that really gives the card some depth.  In the inside, there is a red liner with black "I Love You's" scripted all over it and a white accent with "Happy Valentine's Day" stamped on it.  This will be going to my Grandson for the Big Day!  I hope you like it-I had fun participating in the Challenge!
